FAQ
BGLTS

BGLTS stands for Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender, and Supporters. Alex Boni-Saenz (abonisaenz@law.harvard.edu) is Cabot's BGLTS tutor. If you need any advice about issues surrounding sexual orientation, "coming out," or anything else, please feel free to contact him. Because some people do not feel comfortable discussing such personal issues with people in the house community, the following links can help guide you to Boston-area resources.

Harvard Links

  • BGLTSA (Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender and Supporters Alliance): http://hcs.harvard.edu/~queer/
    • The BGLTSA is an organization concerned with improving the visibility, strength, and support of the Harvard-Radcliffe undergraduate bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender and queer communities in recognition of the marginalization and oppression that exists as a result of stigmatization of queer sexuality and gender. This group seeks to promote community awareness of the social, political, education, and cultural issues surrounding queer identities and sexualities in the form of meetings, discussions, conferences, speaker events, cultural exhibitions in various media, and activism.
  • Contact Peer Counseling: http://www.digitas.harvard.edu/~contact
    • Contact is one of Harvard's five undergraduate peer counseling groups. We're here for everyone and can talk about anything, but we specialize in issues of sex, sexuality, sexual orientation, gender and relationships. We provide confidential peer counseling to undergraduates, but also have many resources in our office in Thayer Basement and are trained in information referrals. We're open Wednesday-Sunday from 8PM-1AM for calls at 495-8111 or Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 8PM-1AM for drop-ins in Thayer Basement. We also have free condoms, lube and dental dams if you need them, so feel free to stop by!
  • BOND (Building on Diversity): http://hcs.harvard.edu/~bond/
    • BOND stands for Building on Diversity. We are an undergraduate organization dedicated to providing a social space for all students in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. Our specific goal is to create a supportive environment for students who do not identify as exclusively heterosexual and for all their friends and supporters. Through various social events, such as parties and study breaks, BOND strives to create a space where its members can meet and communicate with each other in an atmosphere where the pursuit of friendship or intimacy requires neither hiding nor proclamation. We hope that you will join us for one of our many events throughout the year. Come to meet fun, interesting, and intelligent people who share your interests and experiences. Please subscribe to our confidential mailing list to receive announcements about our social and outreach event.
  • BAGELS: http://hcs.harvard.edu/~bagels
    • BAGELS is Harvard's group for bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgendered Jews, their friends and supporters. We sponsor events that foster a BGTLQ Jewish community on campus, and increase awareness about both religion and sexuality.
  • Harvard Gay and Lesbian Caucus: http://www.hglc.org
    • The Harvard Gay and Lesbian Caucus is composed of more than 2,500 gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered Harvard and Radcliffe alumni/ae, faculty, staff and students. HGLC was formed in 1983 with the aim of pressuring Harvard University to include sexual orientation in its non-discrimination policy.
