Education, race relations, reflections
Hi everyone! I’m Jessica, and I’m a New Yorker with roots in Queens, the Bronx, Taiwan, and China. As an undergraduate at Yale, I studied Literature and Ethnicity, Race, and Migration; travelled to China, Mexico, and Cuba for research; and became certified as a high school English teacher. I spent six years as an educator and photographer in NYC before beginning my doctoral studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Currently I’m studying how place and race shape the identities and educational experiences of young people, and I’m passionate about doing justice-oriented research that amplifies the voices of youth. I’m always happy to talk about these interests—as well as about all things related to identity, culture, art, relationships, reality TV, and more! I also love being a listener. It’s a thrill to be a Cabot tutor together with my partner, Geo—we’re excited to share meals and conversations with you.
