Allston Burr Assistant Dean of Harvard College
Lecturer on Sociology
Hello, Cabot! My name is Tiffanie and I am thrilled to join Cabot House this year as your Resident Dean. In this role, I am responsible for supporting your academic and personal well-being and growth during your time at Harvard. My goal is to help you think through issues, ideas, and questions that are important to you as you make decisions about your education at this pivotal moment in your lives. I can also help you connect with the tremendous people and resources in our community – at Cabot and across the College as a whole. Please feel free to come and talk to me about anything that is on your mind. Come say hello if you see me in the dining hall or around Cabot, or email Beth (cabot-ard@fas) to make an appointment with me during office hours. I am really looking forward to meeting you all!
A little bit about me: I served as a resident tutor at Currier House for the past six years, and interim Resident Dean this past spring. I learned so much about undergraduate life here at the College, and the variety of experiences, challenges, and successes students encounter. I know this background will serve me well as the Resident Dean of Cabot. In addition to this role, I am also a Lecturer on Sociology. I will be teaching a course on qualitative research in education this spring, and I am planning a course on art, inequality, and social change for next fall.
I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia and went to the University of Toronto where I studied art history and psychology. I received my Master in Education here at Harvard in 2002, and have since worked in art museums doing education and public programs across the U.S. and Canada. Currently, I am completing my doctorate at the Graduate School of Education, where I am concentrating in culture, communities, and education. I am also a painter, and I have had several exhibitions in the last few years of my work. You can see some examples of my paintings on my website: www.tiffanieting.com
I look forward to meeting you all and to a great year together. Welcome to Cabot!
