Hey y’all!

My name is Philip (he/him) and I’m excited to be back as a tutor at Cabot! Before coming to Harvard I graduated from UChicago with a BA in history (and a minor in math) in 2020 and also completed a Master’s in Computer Science there in 2021. My prior research experience focused heavily on policing, violence, and police lawsuits in the City of Chicago. Currently I am a joint JD/PhD student in statistics here at Harvard. After completing three years of my PhD I’m starting my first year of law school this fall. My current research is on developing algorithmic tools to the problem of legislative redistricting. I am also a member of the Algorithm-Assisted Redistricting Methodology (ALARM) Project at Harvard.

I am passionate about American History; the intersection of law, computer science, and statistics; and incorporating evidence based practices to help improve the American legal system. Feel free to reach out anytime, especially if you’re considering exploring new academic interests or areas but are nervous about taking the leap. I strongly believe it’s never too late to explore a new interest!
