Community Room

The Cabot Common Room (CCR) re-envisions the historical Senior Common Room, recasting that bastion of elitism as a mechanism of inclusion and belonging. We begin our work from the conviction that true intellectual rigor requires diverse opinions, experiences, and identities. The CCR brings together scholars and leaders from within and beyond Harvard to foster an intergenerational intellectual community. At their best, Harvard’s Houses—unique institutions with deep histories—bring students, staff, tutors, faculty, and others together in communities that exceed the traditional classroom. They offer forums for transformative engagement that are, crucially, informal. Harvard can be alienating and impersonal for even those of us who have been here for decades. The CCR is part of a community that puts kindness and curiosity forward as shared goals.
