Letters of Recommendation
Letters and waivers are submitted electronically. Student files are electronic, so hard copies are not necessary.
Recommendations should be dated, signed and on letterhead.
To keep a letter on file, you and your recommender must complete the waiver attached below. The recommender submits it, along with their letter, to ac_cabot@fas.harvard.edu.
Outside of medical/dental schools, most letters are submitted directly by the recommender. For medical/dental school applications, letters are uploaded directly by the Academic Coordinator via the appropriate portal. These applicants will have a tracking sheet shared with them. They are responsible for filling out information including their recommenders names, titles, and the date they requested a letter. The Academic Coordinator updates the sheet with the date a letter is received, (generally within 48 hours). This is the best way to track which letters have been received, and relieves the applicant from having to email the Academic Coordinator to ask.
Pre-Medical Students: In order for your tutor assignee to have enough time to review all of your letters in a timely manner, please adhere to the deadlines provided for submission. Notify the Academic Coordinator when the recommender is teaching a spring course in which you are enrolled and does not write recommendations until the semester ends.
