Hi Cabot. I'm a neurologist at the Brigham and Women's Hospital where I see primarily patients with epilepsy. This will be my 20th year as a premed tutor and I've had many awesome super-accomplished students. Having been an international undergraduate student myself, I welcome anyone with questions about the path to medical school as a foreign student.
I am originally from South Korea but lived in Europe while growing up. I graduated from Cabot House in 1993 where my concentration was in computer science. The year after I graduated, the first internet browser, Netscape Navigator, came into existence. I completed an MD/PhD at McGill University in Montreal where I spend 8 cold but glorious years, before returning to Boston where I did my residency and fellowship at MGH/BWH. I do have a tech start-up, so happy to talk about that experience as well.
My wife Jina Kim and I live in Newton, we have two daughters, and more recently, a dog. In my free time, I'm a rather slow long distance runner, I used to run marathons, but now just half marathons. We enjoy going to the Symphony, Tanglewood, the Opera House, and have been to an AJR concert. Jina knows all of the Korean restaurants in the greater Boston area, so ask us!
